The young sons of Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo continue to be supported by the New York Police Department and all local responders after their father was tragically killed in the line of duty last year. Continuing with this promise, 5-year-old Austin was escorted to his first day of school on Tuesday by members of the NYPD's 43rd Precinct in the Bronx.
Fausto Pichardo, the precinct's commanding officer, wrote on Twitter. Tuozzolo, of Greenlawn, was killed in the line of duty during a Bronx shootout last November. He left behind two sons, Austin and Joseph, 4.
The boys served as grand marshals of the annual Greenlawn Fire Department Parade last week. They led the parade of the state's oldest fair in an antique Cadillac convertible.
Their mother Lisa Tuozzolo was also present. Earlier this summer, Austin and Joseph threw out the first pitch at a Mets game at Citi Field thanks to Answer the Call, a nonprofit that supports the families of New York City's first responders.
